British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe who sponsored Eliud Kipchoge’s shot at the sub two-hour marathon run has reacted to the Kenyan marathoner’s record.

The owner of Ineos, a petrochemical company, said that he could not believe that Eliud Kipchoge had pulled off the feat in Vienna, Austria.

“That last kilometre, where he accelerated and he came through on his own, it was super-human really. I can’t believe he ran the first half-marathon in under an hour, and then he had to do that again,” Sir Jim Ratcliffe said according to the Guardian.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe ensured that Eliud Kipchoge was delivered to Vienna, Austria in total comfort by sending him a jet operated by two pilots and said to be worth over Sh2 billion.

The world marathon record holder run under assisted conditions and had pacesetters who run with him to ensure he achieved the feat which he compared to the first man stepping on the moon.

Eliud Kipchoge’s previously inconceivable feat will prove to be a marketing masterstroke for Sir Jim Radcliffe’s petrochemical company that sponsored the marathon.

Kenyans waited with bated breath as their compatriot took the challenge on Saturday in Vienna.

Eldoret erupted in jubilation as news came through that Kipchoge had scored a sub two-hour marathon run.
